That Wednesday it had been raining all afternoon and the field was already getting soggy. But the very moment that Bowie trod the boards, it stopped raining - much to the satisfaction of the 53, 359 spectators in this Massachusetts capital stadium.
The introduction says, 'Ladies and gentlemen. On stage in Boston for the first time in over 5 years, David Bowie and his band'.
A fine concert except for Carlos Alomar's playing hideously out of tune at the start of Scary Monsters (never mind Carlos!). Almost immediately after Space Oddity is finished Bowie says he wants to introduce the band; usually he waits awhile to acknowledge the applause. His words are restricted to the bare minimum, he only introduces David Lebolt, Lenny Pickett and Stanley Harrison before moving straight into Young Americans. Apparently he wasn't enjoying himself during the concert.
